The execution of Mr. Shahb Darvishi, son of Ahmad, resident of Sahneh (Kermanshah province) was reported in the Jomhuri Eslami newspaper (November 15, 2006), and announced by the Islamic Republic News Agency, Iranian Students News Agency, as well as Fars News Agency (November 14, 2006).

According to the Fars News Agency, Mr. Darvishi was a member of the “Adidas” organized-crime ring, and had been arrested six years prior to his execution, along with some other members of the ring. No detail is available on his arrest and detention.

Jomhuri Eslami explains that Mr. Darvishi “was charged with establishment of a corruption ring, participation in altercations, which resulted in beating and wounding and condemned to eleven years imprisonment. This ruling was approved in the Second Branch of the Court of Appeals of Kermanshah Province. Among other charges brought against him was committing the despicable act of sodomy which resulted in the death sentence through hanging. The ruling was appealed, but Branch 27 of the Supreme Court confirmed the verdict and insisted on this punishment.” Mr. Shahb Darvishi was hanged in public at 3 p.m. on November 14, 2006 at Azadi Square in Kermanshah.
