About this Case

News of the execution of Mr. Majid J. was published on the website of ISNA (Iranian Students News Agency) on October 22, 2003, and in the Jomhuri Eslami newspaper on October 23, 2003.  According to the existing information, his case was related to membership in the Bagh-e Albalu gang, drinking alcoholic beverages, having an illegitimate relationship, kidnapping, and rape.

Branch 99 of the General Court in Mashhad condemned Mr. Majid J. to death for rape, to 15 years imprisonment for kidnapping, to 99 lashes for illegitimate relationship, and to 80 lashes for drinking alcoholic beverages. Branches Two and 41 of the Supreme Court confirmed the ruling twice. He was hanged at the Mashhad Central Prison yard on October 22, 2003.
