Mr. Danial Estakhr, member of the Fars Province Bar Association, was arrested in the city of Shiraz on May 30, 2017, and taken to Shiraz’ Adelabad Prison. He was charged with “insulting the Leader of the Revolution”. The reason for the charge was his writings in a Telegram channel which included statements regarding the execution of political prisoners in the 1980’s and objections to the authorities’ disregard for the law. Mr. Estakhr was released on bail after a few days in detention, but according to the available information, the case against him is still pending.
