Tehran Revolutionary Prosecutor : Harmful Books and Publications Will Be Confiscated
"Despite a directive from Imam Khomeini, the Grand Illuminator, who stressed and believed in the freedom of press (as long as steps are not taken that cross the path of the Islamic Revolution, oppose the rules of the Islamic Government, or harm the territorial integrity and independence of the country), we, unfortunately, witness, that in some cases, certain books are published which run counter to the country’s national interests and territorial integrity. Thus, in being vigilant towards, and in abiding by the above [Imam’s] directive, all publishers, publishing houses, and paper binders of the Central State [Tehran] are ordered to show restraint, and consider the above regulations before printing any books or manuscripts. Clearly, if any divergence from the above rules should be observed, the Chief Islamic Revolutionary Public Prosecutor will, without fear, and with the intention to protect and solidify the Islamic Republic of Iran, move to confiscate the harmful books and publications, and severely prosecute the guilty."
